We provide quality fresh ingredients in a fun, coastal atmosphere. When our customers visit Shuckin’ Shack they know they’re in for a fun time for the whole family.
Our Franchise Owners are immediately welcomed into the clam….er, clan, and become a valued part of spreading food, fun, and friendship throughout the US. When you introduce a Shuckin’ Shack seafood franchise into your community, your regulars become family and you become a community leader. It’s that easy!
Who We Are
Shuckin’ Shack is a seafood restaurant that specializes in casual dining with high-quality seafood and more! We provide sustainably sourced domestic seafood such as oysters (since we’re, you know, an oyster bar…) as well as shrimp, clams, crab, lobster, and fish. We’ve even got some primo chicken wings for the landlubbers who steer clear of seafood!
We like to say, “There’s seafood and then there’s Shuckin’ Shack!” because we aren’t like our competitors in the seafood industry. While we like to have a good time, we don’t want it to feel forced or cringey in any way. Our staff is professional and fun all at the same time while our locations are eccentric with hometown flair.
It’s easy to see why people love Shuckin’ Shack because it feels like a beachfront vacation all the time. Who doesn’t want to escape every now and then? When you invest in a seafood franchise with us at Shuckin’ Shack, your escape can simply be coming to work each day.
The Shuckin’ Shack Story
Our Founders, the admirable Matt Piccinin and Sean Cook, were in search of some fresh oysters long ago in ancient times of 2007. In the coastal town of Carolina Beach, they expected this endeavor to be a simple affair. Unfortunately this hankering leads down a path to nowhere.
Fortunately, it revealed a new path to Matt and Sean, an opportunity. The two hatched a plan to open the most amazing oyster bar the world had ever seen. Though they both might have been three sheets to the wind when the planning was said and done, their dream of a domestic seafood joint with plenty of cold beer and a casual atmosphere became reality.
Shuckin’ Shack became a seafood franchise with the addition of Jonathan Weathington who took this small town oyster bar and made history. Our first franchise location opened in Summerville, SC in 2015 and has been off the hook ever since!

Rather than farmed frozen seafood that has a mysterious background and seems, well… fishy, our seafood is 100% fresh and comes straight from, you guessed it, the sea! In fact, it’s so fresh we can usually even tell you the name of the captain on the boat that caught it. Seriously. We aren’t shuckin’ around.
Sustainable
We are dedicated to preserving the ocean and the life that lives within it. Our goal is to ensure future seafood lovers have the opportunity to experience fresh seafood the way it was intended. We’ve partnered with the James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch Program. This program uses discarded shells to rehabilitate oyster reefs and keep the oysters coming.
Not only does our commitment to sustainability help preserve our business model (after all, it’s hard to have an oyster bar without any oysters left!) but more importantly, it preserves a precious resource on the planet we love so much, enabling us to share the joys of delicious fresh-caught oysters with generations to come.
